I know I've been terrible at updating. But, I haven't wanted to spend that much time in an internet cafe, mostly because it is so hot out! But also because the other week I had to spend practically every day sorting out a time for my interview for the UBC social work program, and then I had to actually do the interview over the phone in the cafe so I could do the writing part directing afterwards! So many hoops to jump through!
Okay, so I lied...well not on purpose...I went to Beachcomber again on the weekend of the 10th. I got talked into it by the rest of the volunteers because EVERYONE was going. I tried to make it as cheap of weekend as possible...and I am really glad I went and enjoyed myself yet again! It was one of the guys' birthday, so we got the staff to make a cake and sing happy birthday for him. There weren't a lot of people there, but we made our own party none the less! They also did another limbo contest later in the evening, which I enjoyed from the comfort of the table! Earlier in the night we walked half way around the island (only took five minutes), we would have walked the whole way around but the tide was too high. We did watch the sunset from there though, well from what we could see of it...it was too cloudy. Sill it was gorgeous!
The last two weekends have been spent at the Holiday Inn pool in Suva with almost everyone else - we are all trying to save some money! This past weekend however a whole bunch of the other volunteers went and got their diving licenses. Waaay too rich for my blood and if I'm completely honest with myself it doesn't interest me that much - Dad I know you think I'm crazy for saying that!
Last week we went and tried Bollywood dancing! It was hilarious! Especially trying to watch the guys trying to do it! Now they are actually interested in doing it again this week...AND they are going to try Zumba tomorrow! So we'll see how that goes!
Well, the mural at the school keeps getting bigger and bigger... and I should probably say stranger and stranger. It was a jungle season that sort of morphed into a farm scene on the wall next to it....and across from it, well across from that wall we now have spaceships, aliens, a waterfall an a ghost. I only have four days left at the school now though...but I'm sure we'll find something else to add before Friday.
Well, I am going to get to go away one last time! We are going to the third biggest island in Fiji - Taveuni! Big draw back though...17 hour boat ride overnight....oh, what fun that's going to be. We leave Friday night and get back Wednesday morning. We also plan on staying at a dorm at a camp ground and attempt to cook our own food to save on money. There are waterfalls there that you can slide down, a famous coastal walk and lot's of exotic birds to find. I am super excited!
I can't believe it, but this time in two weeks I'll be home! Three months...hard to believe. At times it has been rough and my homesickness has taken over a bit. Overall though it has been fantastic. I can't wait to see everyone though! And catch up properly with people.
